Telecommuting
Can anyone guide me on how to effectively manage the telecommuting process in my office?
I have a small business and I have lots of freelancers sending me work. I need to have a system in place that will let me effectively manage the telecommuting process including putting regulations and policies in place.
The first thing You Need is to write up your regulations and policies and put them up on a Web Site.
Next when you contract with anyone include a clause that says they are bound by the regulations and policies as published on your web site and have them acknowledge that they accept your terms.
The next thing to do is start using a tool like subversion to manage work in progress. The quick and dirty explanation for tools like subversion is that they were created to manage collaborative projects (in particular open source software) where one or more people could work on a project and others could read the file, but not make any changes.
You can download subversion which is free of charge at:
http://subversion.tigris.org
When you assign a project you can create a skeleton file and then grant edit permission to whoever you have working on the project.
If you want you can then grant reviewers permission to read the file and submit comments to you and/or the person working on the project.
