How can you make your gmail emails go into different folders?
I want to know if it is possible to take your contacts that are in gmail and make that specific persons emails only show up in a certain folder, like all contacts that come from colleges, I would like their messages to show up in a folder called ‘colleges’ and subscription updates to go into a folder called ‘updates’. I hope that makes this question more understandable
You can use filters to automatically apply particular labels to incoming mail.
Go to the settings option (top right) then select the filters tab.
You can create a filter with the following categories: from, to, subject, has the words, or doesn’t have. Once you’ve defined the filter, one of the possible options to do with mail that matches that filter, is to apply a particular label.
Fill in as little or as much information as necessary to distinguish different types of emails. It can take a bit of practice to get right, but once it’s set, you don’t have to think about it again.
