From Camaro5.com

Those of us holding off on placing or changing our Camaro orders due to lack of a blue color for the Camaro SS or polished wheels for the RS trim level, need not wait any longer.
As of this AM, both Aqual Blue Metallic and Imperial Blue are available for ordering on your dealer's ordering system! You may now also order polished wheels with the RS equipment trim level.

GM sues supplier to keep Camaro production on schedule

General Motors has spent millions of dollars developing and marketing its 2010 Chevrolet Camaro, which is scheduled to go into production in February. But the bankruptcy of an interior parts supplier is threatening to delay the pony car, which isn’t just bad news for GM, but could have a ripple effect on dealers and even other suppliers.

In an effort to prevent a delay of the new Camaro, GM has filed a lawsuit against Cadence Innovation LLC, accusing the company of “holding hostage” the parts it needs to put the car into production. The suit demands Cadence immediately hand over the parts and equipment required for a new supplier to take over. GM says it needs to have a new supplier in place by January 12th, or it will not be able to begin production of the Camaro on schedule.

“Even one day’s disruption in supply of certain component parts could cause a shutdown of GM assembly operations, disrupting not only GM’s business, but the operations of countless suppliers, dealers, customers and other stakeholders,” the lawsuit states.

As is typical of a supplier-automaker relationship, GM provided Cadence with machines to manufacture the interior parts it needs. Although automakers usually retain ownership of such equipment, it’s not unheard of that a defunct supplier will fail to return the machines and tools to said automaker. This was the case with Plastech, which refused to return equipment to Chrysler several months ago.

It is not clear if Cadence — which entered Chapter 11 bankruptcy in August and Chapter 7 liquidation more recently — is behaving similarly to Plastech, or if the complexity of the bankruptcy process is to blame. In any case, GM literally can’t afford to have a product as important as the Camaro delayed, so this will be a very interesting case to follow in the coming days and weeks.

GM delays Camaro production by one month

General Motors says it is delaying production of the Chevrolet Camaro by one month, but it won’t offer any explanation for the delay. The start of production had been slated for February 16 at the company’s Oshawa, Ontario, facility, but a Chevrolet spokesman said today that the date has been pushed back to March 16.

“It’s due to a variety of factors that I’m not going to get into, but it’s nothing to be concerned about,” Rhadigan said in an interview, according to Automotive News. “We’re still going to build every one we can, and we’re excited to get them out.”

As we’ve previously reported, GM has already received more than 10,000 orders for the Camaro.

“It’ll take a few months for us to build all 10,000 of those sold orders,” Rhadigan said in the interview.

Last month, GM announced it was suing a bankrupt supplier in order to gain access to the parts and equipment needed to produce the Camaro on time. Rhadigan didn’t say whether the delay was related to the supplier difficulty.

When it rains it pours. Just what they needed to loose potential sales in this day and age to supplier issues.

Bob McDorman Chevrolet in Canal Winchester has a silver 6 cyl. RS on the lot for viewing. Black leather interior. Looks pretty good in person. The 20" wheels are kind of big though, but so are the wheel wells. Overall, its a nice looking car.

Taylor Chevrolet in Lancaster had a red one last weekend and had a mini Camaro show to promote the release. Among the cars were a 69 ZL1 clone and a real 69 Z28 that they sold new for $3100. I was impressed with how comfortable the seats are in the 2010 but I would rather buy and oldie for that kind of money. My wife on the other hand was trying to empty the garage so she could bring one home.

Bob McDorman had an orange SS/RS with orange/black interior for a few days before the guy picked it up. I missed it.

New production Synergy Green exterior color unveiled at SEMA on Concept. Color available mid 2010.

Reminds me of the old Spring Green Metallic that was available in '69. I like it.
