Maybe Ill warm back up to the idea after they arrive.

Ya, they're not in my radar near as much as they were either. Maybe once they come out and I see one in person, it will rekindle the flame.

I have never been one to like a new car model off the bat. I like to wait a few years and make sure some of the bugs are worked out. I also like to read up on reviews so I know all of its up and down sides. I do agree that the styling on the new Camaro looks great, vert included.

notice it says "Left hand drive" on the back. i was talking to a GM engineer about the new camaro last week and he said all the systems in the car are already being tested in the new cars that have come out recently in a few other countrys. this is also going to be a world wide car like the vette is now. he told me alot of cool things about the car and a few things about the new ZR1 how they had to detune it because it was no fun to drive since all it would do was spin tires. and the C7 vette is being kicked around as a AWD with a smaller engine with a lighter car to keep performance specs where they are now.

Default Camaro pricing released

From Left Lane News:

10/12/2008, 10:30 PM
Chevrolet News
2010 Chevrolet Camaro priced from $22,995

General Motors has priced the 2010 Chevrolet Camaro from $22,995 — a number that positions it slightly above the base Ford Mustang and Dodge Challenger, but still within reach of the same potential buyers. Full pricing details are not yet available, but we’ll have all the numbers later in the week.

As expected, the Camaro will be available in LS, LT and SS guise. The LS and LT models will make do with a 3.6L V6 – mated to either a six-speed automatic or manual transmission – and will produce 300 horsepower and 273 lb-ft of torque. Despite having more power than the V6 versions of the Ford Mustang and Dodge Challenger, the V6-powered cars will return 26 mpg on the highway.

Both the LS and LT models will ride on GM’s FE2 suspension.

An RS appearance package will be available on LT model, and will include HID headlamps with an integrated halo ring feature, spoiler, specific tail lamps and 20-inch wheels.

With four-wheel independent and StabiliTrak stability control standard, the Camaro will tip the scales at about 3,700 pounds, but is said to have a near ideal 52/48 weight distribution.

Although the V6 models will do battle with low-end Mustangs and Challengers, a turbocharged four-cylinder is still not out of the question. The automaker hopes to sell as many as 100,000 units annually.

Overall, the body shape looks very similar to the Camaro Concept. GM has added a B-pillar to the Camaro’s body structure for added strength. Otherwise, the car is virtually unchanged from the concept, as GM has promised.

Availability

Circle Monday, February 16, 2009 on your calendar as the date the new 2010 Camaros will start heading down the production line at the Oshawa plant in Ontario. In actuality, this means it will more than likely be mid-March before you’ll be able to put your hands on one at a dealership.

Camaro SS Pricing:

10/12/2008, 10:31 PM
Chevrolet News
2010 Chevrolet Camaro SS priced from $30,995

If you’re looking to get your hands on a new Chevrolet Camaro SS, it might end up costing less than you expected. The high-performance 2010 model will arrive at dealers with a sticker price of $30,995 — a figure that significantly undercuts the $39,320 Dodge Challenger SRT8. The car is also considerably more affordable than the Mustang GT500, but the Ford is admittedly more powerful and exclusive.

The top-level SS will be motivated by a 6.2L V8. When coupled with the six-speed automatic transmission, the SS will be good for 400 horsepower and 395 lb-ft of torque, while opting for the manual gearbox will net an additional 22 horsepower, for a grand total of 422 horsepower and 408 lb-ft of torque. The V8 powered car will return about 23 mpg on the highway.

Other SS goodies will include four-piston Brembo brakes, a sportier FE3 suspension and Competitive/Sport modes for the car’s StabiliTrak stability control system, including launch control for manual SS models.

Of note, GM claims the Camaro SS lapped Germany’s Nürburgring in 8 minutes 20 seconds. While not as blistering as the Corvette ZR1’s 7:26.4 second lap, it still puts the Camaro in some pretty decent company, such as the E46 BMW M3. However, the Camaro SS’ little brother — the 2008 Cobalt SS — made its way around the Nürburgring in just 8:22.

An RS appearance package will be available on the SS, and will include HID headlamps with an integrated halo ring feature, spoiler, specific tail lamps and 20-inch wheels.

Default 'vert experiences production delay

Excerpt from Left Lane News article

11/16/2008, 5:41 PM

GM’s product delays in detail

On Friday, November 7, GM dropped the bombshell that they could run out of cash in only a few months. This sparked a wildfire of stories about the General delaying many future products in order to save cash. We’ve now got our hands on the delay details including specific dates. This rundown comes directly from the people who make the parts for these cars, not from the mailman of someone’s uncle who cuts the lawn at the Milford Proving Grounds.

..........Finally, the drop top Chevy Camaro has been put on the back burner for quite a few months. Originally, the Camaro Convertible was set to start production in December of 2009. Then it was pushed back to the summer of 2010. Now you’ll have to wait an additional 8 months until February of 2011 to buy the soft-top. Two full years after the coupe goes on sale.

While these setbacks may make GM fans less-than-happy, the grim reality is, if GM doesn’t get the government help it needs, these delays become a moot point.
