It is unlikely that you can accumulate huge amount of money online with Forum Marketing unless you are the Forum owner. Yet, Forum is a great place to create backlinks and drive traffic to your websites or direct visitors to your affiliate links.
Following are 5 tips to help you engage in Forum Marketing effectively.
1. Find Relevant Forums
This really should be a no-brainer. Most Internet Marketers know how to perform niche marketing research on Google, Yahoo or MSN to locate the Forums that are closely related to their niches. However, not all Forums will turn up on the top 3 pages of the Search Engines, especially if you are into a very specific niche.
One other way to do so is to ask around. If you are part of a fan club in Facebook or are linked to Twitter, drop those members an email and you may be surprised with their recommendations. Explore your options.
2. Criteria for Selecting Forums
First, consider how much traffic the Forum is getting based on the number of posts and topics. Then analyze how active the Forum is in terms of now many members are logged on at any one time and the average frequency of postings. Have a sense of the demographics of the crowd who visit and post on the Forum. For example, a sports car forum and a vintage car forum obviously attract different groups of visitors in terms of age, personality and interests.
In addition, find out if the Forum you are keen on is open to personal advertisement. After all, your key purpose is to make money online through this means.
3. Get to Know the Forum
During your research, navigate through the entire site to get familiar with the layout, house rules and the overall feel of it. Most Forums have a Classified or Buy & Sell section. Check those out as well to see what products and services are most popular and well received. Ask yourself if your products fit into those categories. If not, what are the options?
4. Become an Expert
If you have been actively involved in a Forum before, you should know that there are usually a few guys that are extremely active, knowledgeable and well respected. You can easily identify them based on the number of posts they made and the feedback they received from the forum members. The comments from these veterans are highly regarded and accepted.
When you become an expert, your words and recommendations will carry far more weight and that is your door to making money online within the Forum. You won’t find it difficult to invest time to achieve that expertise status if you are in a niche that you absolutely love and have great knowledge about.
5. Create a Good Signature

Watch and Learn How other Forum members design their signatures and how to place your affiliate product link or website information in it. This is a crucial step to directing traffic to your promotion sites to generate money online.
